Dollar DIY fall decor you will love to create!

I have a confession. I have an aversion to using traditional colors when decorating for fall, but changing the color scheme each year can get pricey. So I include DIY projects that are quick using what I have on hand in my design plan. This month I’ll share 3 easy projects to infuse fall into your home for just a few dollars.

PAINTED PUMPKINS
This year I chose a color palette of navy, pink, gray, ivory and hints of caramel. I dug out last years painted pumpkins I bought at the dollar store, picked up a $3.98 can of pink spray paint and transformed dozens of pumpkins to work into my plan.
I pulled the stems out before painting and when the pumpkins were dry I tucked a piece of jute underneath the stem and continued to hot glue it around the stem.
Supplies:
Styrofoam pumpkins Spray Paint
Jute & glue gun (optional)
And here is a little bonus for you. While I like to peruse the aisles at Dollar Tree, I often don't have the time and when I put my mind to a project I want to get my ducks in a row. DT now has an even online craft supply inventory than in the stores so be sure to check out what they offer below.

NO SEW SWEATER PUMPKINS
These adorable pumpkins are in stores everywhere. After carefully inspecting them I decided it would be a fun challenge to create my own. This is a fast, easy project great for kids.
Cut off the sweater sleeves above the cuff and below the shoulder seam turn it inside out. Slide the strands of jute through the sleeve.
Gather the sleeve above the knotted end of the string and secure with a rubber band.
Flip the sleeve right side out and stuff with pollyfill.
Gather the open end and bring each of the 6 strings around the pumpkin to the top and secure with a rubber band.
Adjust the strings as desired and pull each tight.
Wrap and glue the remaining jute around the rubber band to form a stem.
Supplies:
Old sweaters or flannel shirts
6 pieces of Jute or yarn tied in a knot on one end Rubber bands
Pollyfill
Glue gun (our favorite cordless option is below)
Glue sticks

BOOK ART
I seem to have an overabundance of books I’ll never read again so I put them to good use and I have to say this may be one of my favorite projects this fall.
Supplies:
Paperback books
alphabet stamps and stamp block
Black stamp pad
Jute and/or ribbon
Remove the cover from the books. I use 3-5 books.
Decide on the words you will use and place the letters on to the stamp block backwards. Ink your stamp.
Stamp the words on to the books.
Tie together with jute and ribbon
